{ Castello di Bracciano: Olive jacket, Striped tee & New Balance sneakers }

Hi everyone, I hope your week has gotten off to a great start! Last weekend we made a day trip to Lago di Bracciano (Lake Bracciano), located about a half hour north of Rome. In addition to the beautiful lake there is a famous medieval castle, which my history-buff hubby insisted we tour while we were there. Because I knew we would be doing a lot of walking on this trip, I dressed comfortably in denim cutoffs, a striped tee, and sneakers.Castello Odescalchi was built in the 15th century and each room (more than twenty of them) is filled with a wealth of artifacts from the past. We were shocked by the amount of priceless pieces in each room, including paintings, furniture, sculptures, and weapons — all practically unattended by guards or staff (except of course in the armory)!One of my favorite color pairings is olive and orange, and therefore this striped tee was an easy choice to combine with my bomber jacket. I like how the silky texture of the jacket can also dress up a casual tee and shorts or add the finishing touch to a more sophisticated outfit (example here). A stunning view of Lake Bracciano from the top of the castle–the next time we return, we plan to be down on the shore!I can’t lie: I was pretty excited to discover this pair of New Balances matched my shirt so well!Not only is Castello Odescalchi well-known for historical reasons, it has also hosted a few high-profile weddings, including that of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. No doubt their ceremony wasn’t cheap, but with a setting like this it must have been spectacular! Between the history, celebrity weddings, lake, and the quaint little town, there is something for everyone. If you have a day to get out of Rome, then consider heading to Bracciano and I promise you won’t be disappointed!
