Happy Monday and I hope your week is off to a great start! It was so nice to escape the city for the weekend and head east to the beach in Pescara–not only was it an easy two-hour drive, but a scenic one as well; we had to cross several mountain chains, all of which had at least one peak so tall that there was still snow on the top. I realize it’s the monumental height of the terrain that makes this possible, but it’s still mind-blowing to me that we could pass a snow-capped mountain and be at the (warm) beach in less than 45 minutes! Pescara is probably about as close as you’ll get to a sandy beach in America, minus the waves, which is actually preferable to me because it’s so much easier to go for a swim without dodging the breakers. We spent our entire Saturday–literally from 10:00 to about 5:00–basking in the sun on the beach. Our own little tiki stand complete with grass-covered umbrella table and two lounge chairs (with nifty fold-out shades to cover your face!) made for the ultimate beach day, and my only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer!

For seaside style that can instantly go from beach to cocktails–or in our case, lunch–I rely on beach cover-ups, and this white crochet tunic works with all of my swim suits. There are so many chic cover-up options available in stores, making it a snap to look stylish even if your only plan is to lounge the day away. My other favorite accessory for afternoons spent in the sun are wide-brimmed hats, and as you can tell from how many times I’ve worn it on my blog, this straw style from J. Crew has been my absolute favorite this season (pssst–it also happens to be on sale now!) Flowers always add a pretty touch to a seaside look, and I was given some pink blooms by one of the hotel employees to complement my outfit. You may be wondering if I actually wore these wedges on the beach, and the answer is no, but they sure look cuter for photos than my flip-flops!

P.S. Don’t forget to enter the Kérastase giveaway here for a chance to win a full size deep-conditioning hair masque (retail value $62.50). Did I mention this product hasn’t even hit salons yet?! Hurry, the contest ends tomorrow afternoon!
