With a new spring season right around the corner, I’ve been gravitating towards pieces in light colors, and nothing looks as fresh as a pair of crisp white jeans. I’d been on the hunt for the perfect pair and this style from Adriano Goldschmied did not disappoint: not only do these feel as stretchy as a pair of leggings, they are made without front pockets for a sleek look–no more unsightly lines of extra fabric you often get from white denim. A relaxed sweater and comfy sneakers complete this neutral color scheme for a casual weekend look.

The best part about living in Rome is that you never know what hidden treasures may be around the corner down a side street, many of which turn out to be Italian specialty food shops. On the other hand, there can be lack of food variety when grocery shopping. It’s a guarantee there will never be a shortage of pasta, bread, and dessert (thank goodness), but sometimes I feel like I am always fixing similar meals. Most Americans are used to a huge, and sometimes overwhelming, variety of brands and ethnic food products at grocery stores. While I absolutely love having easy access to fresh produce and homemade Italian goods you’ll only find here, sometimes it can be challenging to find the ingredients I need to prepare a favorite dish, and my most recent craving was Mexican food. Fortunately, we have access to a U.S. commissary, which is just slightly larger than a convenience store, but full of enough essentials from the states to fill the gaps in our pantry. It may sound silly, but it’s slightly comforting to shop there because it’s like experiencing a little slice of home–and I was able to find everything I needed to successfully make green chile chicken enchiladas for dinner this evening. Olé!
