If you’ve spent much time on social media these days, you’ve probably seen the internet debate about skinny jeans and side parts being “out” according to Gen Z. Personally, I think you should wear what makes you feel comfortable and skinny jeans are a classic denim silhouette that’s here to stay. That said, I have been loving—and preferring—straight leg jeans like this over my skinnies for the last few years. In this post I’m sharing my favorite styles and brands–including a maternity pair I’m currently loving—plus some tips on how to wear them in the most flattering way.
My Favorite Straight Leg Jean Brands & Styles
Since straight leg jeans are trending in the denim world, you can find them at pretty much any retailer. My personal favorite brand for vintage-style straight leg jeans is AGOLDE (lots of styles here), with Levi’s as my next choice.

Tips for Wearing Straight Leg Jeans
Try a Flattering High Rise
Straight leg jeans with a high rise will be the most flattering for any body type, especially if you wear them with a bodysuit (shop here) or a top that’s tucked in. This will define your waist and elongate your legs.
Choose an Ankle Length Inseam
Straight leg jeans typically look best in a length that hits just at the ankle bone. If they’re too short, you’re venturing into high-water territory and too long could end up looking frumpy (especially if you’re petite).
Consider Footwear
When it comes to which shoes to wear with straight leg jeans, I’ve found that booties with a fitted ankle (i.e. sock boots) or strappy heel sandals (lots of options here) look the most elongating. I do wear flats with my straight leg jeans, but not as often since it doesn’t look as flattering with my petite height. If you’re tall, consider yourself lucky because any kind of footwear will look great!
