Happy Birthday to yours truly! Birthdays aren’t always exciting as I get older but I will happily take an excuse not to cook or clean anything today! Last week, we spent a night at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, West Virginia which is about an hour away from where we live. While it wasn’t 100% relaxing since we had the girls with us, it was still really nice to get away. The fall color was also in full force so it was extra special being there.
My husband surprised me with this gorgeous Tahitian pearl necklace while we were away. We went to Tahiti on our honeymoon and I have a pair of Tahitian pearl earrings from that trip, so he had this necklace made to go with them. We made a stop by our favorite jewelry store while we were on our trip and the jeweler had my necklace presented to me on a stand alongside my earrings, which was such a thoughtful touch. Naturally, I had to take it out for a spin that night.
I wore this black silk shirtdress to dinner, which is my first piece from L’Agence (shop here). Classic pieces like this are my favorite since I know I’ll love them for years. I’m wearing it with booties for fall but this dress could easily be paired with sandals in warmer weather. Speaking of classics, these Aquazzura booties are another new addition to my closet. I’d been eyeing them for months and finally pulled the trigger during Shopbop’s recent sale event.They are an investment shoe, but the perfect black bootie to wear with everything.
