If you were to ask me what my top five wardrobe staples are, a white button down shirt is undoubtedly on the list. Even though they can be worn year-round, I find myself reaching for mine most often in late summer and early fall. This isn’t the first time I’ve posted about white button downs (see more inspiration on this post) but somehow I keep finding new ways to wear one. Here are three ways I’ve been styling them recently and you can also shop some of my favorite white button downs below (simply click on the image to open it on the retailer website).

Bike Shorts & Slide Sandals
Chic meets comfy when you throw a button down over a pair of bike shorts. Oversized shirts or those with a tunic length are perfect for this look. Add a pair of slide sandals and you’re good to go!

Tied at the Waist with Denim Cutoffs
Take the tails of a loose fitting button down and tie them at the waist with a pair of denim shorts like one of these for a casual summer outfit. The great thing about this combo is that it can take you anywhere from the beach to dinner depending on the type of accessories you add.

Open over a Bodysuit with High Rise Shorts
Wear a white button down open over a bodysuit to show off the high waist on your shorts, pants or skirt (this also works great over a fitted dress). If you’re craving a layered look, it’s the best way to achieve one while the weather’s still hot.
