I’m 37 weeks pregnant and officially at the point where it doesn’t take much to get worn out! But even on days I don’t feel very energized, I’ve vowed to continue staying active up until delivery and truthfully, it’s helped me feel better overall each day. Baby girl will be here before we know it and I want to stay strong so I can keep up with her. If you’ve been following me during this pregnancy, you may already know I dealt with a lot of hip pain earlier on, but it’s significantly decreased since incorporating some of the tips below (in fact, now I almost have none!) They’re simple but highly effective little things you can do daily to help feel your best!
Stay Motivated with Cute Maternity Activewear
First and foremost, make sure you have athletic clothing that fits properly and feels comfortable so you can stay active—and buying a few cute workout pieces will make you actually want to move! Check out this post for some of my favorite affordable maternity activewear. The top and leggings I’m wearing in this post were gifted to me by BLANQI and I also highly recommend their brand.
Wear Clothing with Good Support
In late pregnancy, good support is key for helping prevent injury and easing issues like back pain. I love this crossback maternity tank from BLANQI because it has built-in belly support to help redistribute the extra weight that strains my back. I recommend sizing up if you’re later in pregnancy (I wore a small earlier on and now I’m in a medium). I wrote more details about their activewear on this post if you’re interested.
Get Outside
Get outside every day, even if it’s just for a short walk. Since my second trimester, I’ve been going for daily hikes on our mountain trail—yes, even in the rain, wind and snow! It’s become a nice little block of ‘me time’ and has significantly helped reduce the hip pains I was experiencing in earlier pregnancy. I fully intend on continuing once baby girl is here, either by wearing her in a carrier or pushing a stroller up the hills.
Stretch Daily
Stretching for a few minutes daily is a small thing you can do that will make a huge impact on how you feel. I can definitely tell if I’ve skipped it or not done enough by how well I sleep at night and how achy my body feels. Simply put, the more you do, the greater your results will be. I’ve also been doing low-impact prenantal Barre workouts my entire pregnancy and have been amazed at the results I’ve gotten even while growing larger.
Get your family involved in your walks or workouts—especially if you have kids, because they’ll love it. We try to go on short walks often as a family, which is a great way to spend time together while helping me stay active. Lila also loves to join in on my prenatal Barre workouts!
