There’s something about wearing the same color head to toe that’s always incredibly chic, especially with layered winter looks. They may seem like a no-brainer, but monochrome outfits can be tricky to put together. I’ve found a few ways to make the process a little easier and I’ve rounded them up in this post.
3 Ways to Master the Monochrome Look for Winter
1. Pile on the Layers
In my opinion, layered monochrome outfits are the most sophisticated. To build your look, choose one color and find as many pieces as you can in the same shade. For winter, think cozy pieces like hats, scarves, knits and coats—the more layers, the better!
2. Mix Tonal Hues
If you’re having trouble finding pieces that are an exact color match, try mixing light and dark shades for a tonal look, as shown here with these blends of tan, dark brown and camel.
3. Add Texture
Add interest to your monochromatic outfits by focusing on texture. In the above examples, I finished my head-to-toe red outfit with croc-embossed leather boots and added a faux fur coat to my all-black look.
