Cooler days are just around the corner, but many of us aren’t quite ready to part with our favorite summer dresses—and with a few easy switches, we don’t have to. In this post I’m sharing my favorite ways to wear warm-weather dresses for the fall season—let me know how you transition your dresses in the comments!
1. Change Your Accessories
One of the first ways I like to transition my summer dresses for the fall season is to simply change my accessories. Consider color and material: for example, these brown suede sandals and fringe bag give my dress more of an autumnal feel than wedge sandals and a straw bag would. Another simple switch that will give you major fall vibes is to wear a wool fedora instead of a straw hat.

2. Wear a Cozy Cardigan
My current favorite way to wear dresses for fall is by throwing on a cozy cardigan, especially one with a longer length. It’s equal parts chic and functional, perfect for a fall day date.

3. Add a Leather Jacket
A chic and edgy way to wear your favorite summer dress when the temperature dips? Top it off with a leather jacket! Choose a color that complements your dress to give it a cohesive appearance.

4. Swap Your Sandals for Boots
Okay, first can we just talk about how big this baby bump was with Lila?! Oh my goodness! I’m wearing a summer tank dress here but the addition of a long trench and suede booties make it an autumn-ready outfit. Wearing booties with bare legs is my favorite way to switch my looks from summer to fall!
