How to Give Your Warm-Weather Outfits a Fall Vibe

August 14, 2019

Whenever August rolls around, I’m always SO ready to dive into new fall clothing—the only problem is, it’s usually still way too hot outside to wear any of it. To help transition my wardrobe from summer to fall, I usually rely on a few key things: footwear, hats, fabrics and colors. Keep on reading for my favorite tips to add an autumnal vibe to your warm-weather outfits and be sure to let me know your own tricks in the comments!

Footwear

Footwear is usually the first thing I think about when I have fall fashion cravings. Swapping out your sandals for a pair of mules or ankle boots is such an easy way to completely change the look of any outfit. If you can’t bear the thought of wearing a closed-toe shoe, try a suede sandal since it has a fall texture.

Hats

After you’ve changed your footwear, think about adding a hat to your look—just make sure to choose the right material. Straw hats conjure thoughts of summer vacation but a wool fedora or floppy hat definitely screams ‘fall.’

Fabrics

When you’re putting an outfit together, think about the fabrics. Anything made of flannel, twill, faux leather or suede will help evoke a fall vibe. For example, the cropped pants I’m wearing here are warm-weather appropriate but the faux suede material speaks to the next season.

Colors

Rust orange or red, camel, olive green, mustard yellow and burgundy are all colors found in nature during autumn—so start rocking them for a fall look! I adore this paisley-print dress because of the beautiful autumnal color pattern but you can wear it in warm weather (and it’s under $25!)
