Instagram Lately: May Outfits & The Accessories I Can’t Stop Wearing

May 13, 2019

Happy Monday! I hope all you mommas out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! I can’t believe I already celebrated my second one with Lila—time sure is flying. This momma had a craving for IHOP pancakes so we went there for breakfast yesterday morning and then my parents came over for dinner. I wanted to share some of my ‘real life’ outfits from Instagram on the blog today, plus the accessories I can’t stop wearing lately (can you guess what they are from these photos?)This outfit was the most popular I’ve posted on Instagram lately and I’m willing to bet it’s all about my little yellow bag! I love how it makes a bold statement with neutral pieces like this navy blazer. It’s the perfect size for going out and also great if you want to run a few errands without a heavy tote since it also comes with a shoulder strap.

Every summer, I always go on the hunt for a new white eyelet top, skirt or dress (sometimes all three!) The description for this top reads, ‘Not guilty, Your Honor’ and I think that couldn’t be more accurate thanks to its innocent look. The hem is shorter so it’s great for tucking into high waist bottoms.

I have a serious obsession with neck scarves lately and I just picked up this one from Free People. The size is generous so I can wrap it around my neck twice and the muted orange color will be great for wearing into fall. This basket weave tote from Brahmin is exactly what I’ve been searching for to carry this summer and was SO excited when it showed up on my doorstep. I wanted the look of a straw tote but the woven leather is much more durable and a little more luxe.

This dress, ya’ll—I don’t get stopped by strangers about my outfits that often but this dress is an attention-getter! Every time I have worn it, ladies have stopped to ask about it. I wore it like this with my heels for our anniversary date night but you can easily wear flat sandals for casual daytime wear. You can also add a waist belt for a completely different look (which I’ll be showcasing on the blog later this week, so stay tuned!)

If you guessed that neck scarves are one of the obsessions I mentioned that I can’t stop wearing, you got it! They just add so much to any outfit. I usually wear mine with plain tops but these colors coordinated with my striped dress, so I decided to branch out a little. This one from Madewell is only $13 and I own it in several colors.

I’m all about investing in accessories that can transform ordinary outfits and this paisley print scarf and waist belt are perfect examples. My white tee and skirt would have been pretty plain without them! The belt was a bit of a splurge but worth it since it’s exactly what I wanted and I’ll be wearing it so much.
