Neutral Fall Layering: Sweater Coat with Denim Skirt and Western Boots

October 22, 2018

Happy Monday and welcome to the new week! We had a fun weekend even though it flew by way too fast as usual. On Friday night, we went out for dinner and drinks with our friends, making it only the third time we’ve been out alone since Lila was born. It’s made me realize we should probably make an effort to have solo date nights more often. Admittedly I did keep sneaking peeks of her with the baby camera app on my phone even though she was sleeping peacefully the entire time!Layered looks like this are what always get me so excited about getting dressed during the fall season. Madewell has become one of my favorite brands for go-to basics you can easily mix and match. Both my sweater coat and denim skirt are by Madewell and I’ve already been finding so many different ways to wear each of them. A sweater coat is a must have for fall: not only is it cozy and warm, but it’s easy to layer shirts and sweaters underneath without looking too bulky. If you live in a climate that doesn’t get really cold in fall and winter, it’s definitely the perfect jacket. I actually purchased the same coat last year in camel, it’s that good. This denim skirt is the ideal length that’s not too short or long, so it works with any type of footwear. I’ve worn mine with sock boots and sneakers and plan on trying over the knee boots with it next. Black denim skirts like one of these are also easy to dress up and look a little more polished than blue denim.I’ve been eyeing Janessa Leone hats for ages and finally purchased one recently with a discount code I had from Shopbop. Now I understand the hype because it’s by far the most high-quality hat I’ve ever owned with a stiff brim that won’t lose its shape after one season. This gorgeous brown color goes with just about everything in my closet, too—I highly recommend the splurge!Wishing all of you a wonderful start to the new week and thanks so much for stopping by today!
