The fashion show I was most looking forward to this week was Max Mara, the Italian brand I have always admired for their classic pieces and exquisite craftsmanship. We arrived at the venue bright and early this morning, anxious to see what would be in store for the Autumn-Winter collection. It was an incredible experience, and to top things off, the Anna Wintour (editor-in-chief of VOGUE magazine) was sitting one row ahead of me (startruck moment!)The Max Mara Autumn-Winter collection was a blend of classic silhouettes with a modern twist, inspired by heroic women of the Constructivist art movement during the 1920’s; in particular, the Bauhaus, an art school in Germany. Those female students weren’t afraid to take risks in their creations, which was certainly conveyed with the bold designs models paraded down the runway.
Large pockets symbolize the art uniform’s patch pockets, which women used to carry tools while in their workshops.Splashes of color punctuated the neutral shades Max Mara is famous for (camel, gray and black).
It was head-to-toe neutrals for today’s look, and I was definitely thankful for all of my layers because it was pretty chilly. I’ve had a penchant for culottes and booties lately, and from the looks at all of the runway shows, they’ll be sticking around for awhile! When belted over top, this camel wrap appears to be part of my coat–I appreciate how wearing it in a new way totally changed the look of both pieces.
In addition to Max Mara, we also attended runway shows for Anteprima and Les Copains today, as well as several shoe presentations–stay tuned for more and thank you so much for reading!
