I have a new obsession, and for once it is not fashion-related. My husband and I were exploring a new part of the city over the weekend and somehow we found ourselves in a little hardware store. As I was scanning the shelves, my eye happened to land on a small heater made to look like a glowing fireplace–dancing flames and all. I’ve always loved having a fireplace and it’s probably the one thing I miss most about our previous home. There’s just something so comforting about the cozy ambiance it provides in a living room area during the winter, and apartments that come with a fireplace in Rome are rare. Anyway, as we were checking out the ‘fireplace’, we both agreed it was really neat, but decided maybe we should pass since it’s only useful while we’re living in Europe and winters in Rome don’t get terribly cold (plus, we certainly couldn’t take it home with us on the Vespa!) To make a long story short, we immediately had buyers’ regret as soon as we returned to our apartment, and ended up back at the hardware store with our car the next day. Even if it’s only turned on to the setting where the fireplace glows without any heat, I’m loving this adorable new addition which makes our apartment more homey.Speaking of other things that are nice and cozy, this cable knit sweater dress combined with a wool coat made for a warm winter ensemble while we were out fireplace shopping.Eye-catching details like a gold brooch and fur puff handbag keychain are some of my favorite accessories which add a chic touch and elevate any simple look.
I’ve been running around like crazy today and now I’m completely exhausted–that said, I think I’ll go curl up by the ‘fire’ and relax!
