Happy Monday–and first blog post of the new year! Besides attending a NYE party, we were basically homebodies this weekend, lounging around in our PJs and watching movies, only leaving our apartment to do a few photo shoots. Sometimes you just need a lazy weekend, and we took advantage of the down time since it was rainy and cold the past few days. With the beginning of a new year, I’ve been thinking about goals I want to set for myself. I prefer goals over ‘resolutions’ because I like the idea of something achievable over complete change. Here are the four main goals I want to gradually work into my life:
- Practice patience – this is definitely something I need to work on; I have a type-A personality and tend to want things done my preferred way and on schedule. I need to remind myself that we don’t have control over everything and sometimes I need to just let things be.
- Eat more veggies and less sugar – I’ve definitely gotten better over the years, but there is always room for improvement. Fortunately, fresh produce is in full supply here in Italy, and I intend on taking advantage of it to cook healthy meals. I am not going to quit baking homemade treats and eating my daily piece or two of chocolate, but I do want to cut back on processed foods that tend to sneak in unnecessary amounts of sugar and other sketchy ingredients.
- Read often – I used to be an avid reader, but between my iPad and blogging, I’ve really let this beloved hobby go by the wayside. I miss books so much and intend to set aside a little time to read each day, even if it’s only ten minutes before bed.
- Journal daily – free writing is something else I used to do a lot more of and want to make a habit again; even if it’s only jotting down mundane thoughts, I’d like to have a record of life’s moments to look back on, especially of my time living overseas.
My sweet husband surprised me with my Chanel dream bag on Christmas morning and needless to say, I have been carrying it nonstop. I’ll do my best not to wear it with every outfit but it’s just so perfect! I will certainly cherish this beauty for the rest of my life (and if I ever have a daughter, she will be one lucky girl to inherit it!)I’ve been living in comfy oversized sweaters lately and the addition of a faux fur scarf makes this ensemble even cozier. I like how the extra long tunic length of this turtleneck also gives me the option to wear it as a dress.Ripped denim and my new moto boots–which are so comfortable AND on super sale–complete the look while lending some edgy appeal.
