Happy New Year, everyone! I’m devoting the last blog post of the year to some of my favorite outfits/memories from 2015. Looking back through the last twelve months has me recalling some great times, most of which occurred since we moved to Rome last February–it’s hard to believe I spent the majority of this year in Italy. Living overseas has definitely presented some challenges, but I have learned so much and feel grateful for all of the experiences and travel opportunities I would never have had otherwise. 2015 started out very cold and we got to enjoy quite a few snow days at home in Virginia during January and February.
It was literally freezing–in the single digits–when we packed up and moved to Italy!
We arrived in Italy at the very end of February and this casual look is what I wore on our very first day out in Rome!In March, we spent a lot of time exploring Rome on foot before our car arrived–I nearly wore out these New Balance sneakers! After our car arrived in April, we took a short road trip out of the city over Easter weekend to a small village in Umbria, our first taste of the classic Italian countryside.
For our anniversary in May, we drove to Tuscany and spent several days at a bed and breakfast in the heart of the Chianti region–quintessential wine country! While we were in Tuscany, we also made a day trip to Florence (I definitely want to go back next year). We spent a relaxing weekend in June on the East coast of Italy at Pescara, one of the best beaches in the country.
In July, we got to check the island of Capri off our bucket list, and it was just as gorgeous as all of the photos you see in travel magazines! We spent a few weeks in Naples during August and this photo was taken on the Lungo Mare waterfront. My dream to attend fashion week came true in September when I spent three days in Milan for the Spring/Summer ’16 presentations. In October, we spent a long weekend in Garmisch, Germany–being the autumn lover I am, this was easily my favorite trip of the year. Garmisch was the most stunning place I have ever visited during the fall (if it isn’t obvious from the colorful foliage in these photos!) We are already making plans to return again next year.
We headed home to the U.S. for a long vacation at home, stopping first in Florida to spend time with my husband’s family (despite the fact it was November, it was over 90 degrees while we were there!)After leaving Florida, we flew to Virginia to spend the rest of our time at home with my parents. We enjoyed some beautiful fall weather and I was especially happy to catch the end of the foliage. When we returned in December, we experienced the Christmas season in Rome and learned all about Italian traditions that go along with the holiday. Finally, our last trip of the year was back to Germany to explore the Christmas markets in the festive town of Rothenburg. Another year has flown by once again, but I am definitely excited for what the next has in store! I hope all of you have a safe and happy New Year, and as always, thank you so much for your continued support. Cheers to 2016!
