Last week I had the exciting opportunity to attend ESCADA’s press release day for their Spring/Summer ’16 collection at their showroom in Milan, Italy. From bold brights to feminine pastels and sophisticated neutrals, there is something sure to appeal to every woman’s sense of style (I personally loved everything!) Allow me to take you on a virtual tour of the showroom and share photos of the beautiful pieces, as well as some background behind the collection. One of the founding principles of ESCADA’s brand is sporty luxury: the sense of effortless elegance in how women dress. This poplin dress is a perfect example of that principle with its sophisticated, yet easygoing silhouette–the simplest way to look chic even on the hottest summer day. The khaki safari-esque jacket and pants combo was also one of my favorite looks from the collection.Colors for the new collection were derived from nature, ranging in wide spectrum from pale pastels to saturated hues and floral prints.
One of the best parts about attending intimate fashion events is getting to hear the inspiration behind each collection, like this shift dress, meant to recall the neon lights of old Hollywood.
Black, white and red has always been one of my favorite color combinations since crimson really makes a bold statement against an extremely light or dark background. I was happy to see that culottes are sticking around for the new season–notice the intricate detailing on this leather pair. They are also just as versatile for wearing now as in warmer weather: one of the ESCADA ladies was actually wearing these with a fur vest at the event and it looked fantastic!
There are a wide range of colors in the evening gown section, and like the rest of the spring/summer collection, many had a flattering A-line silhouette.Floral prints and pastels always come to mind when I think of spring and summer fashion, and this floaty skirt and sweater combo was simply stunning. The flowers are actually hand-painted for each piece, creating a gorgeous watercolor effect.Handbags and accessories get a playful update for the new season with a variety of animal prints and bright colors (those leopard flats–swoon!) In commemoration of 40 years in fashion, ESCADA is introducing a new signature handbag this year, the ML40, named for its founder, Margaretha Ley. The bag is available in three sizes: maxi, medi, and mini. They are all elegant, but I thought the mini is just darling for the playful vibe associated with warm weather.
ESCADA Sport
ESCADA Sport reflects how modern women dress today: with a carefree attitude and free spirit (often seen wearing sneakers with everything from jeans to dresses). Comfort is key for this collection, and the colors reflect this principle with soft, sun-washed hues. The pearl-embellished pieces were my favorite from the Sport collection; I thought the detail was a lovely way to give these laidback pieces a sense of femininity. The full collection will be launching in stores next month, and is surely one not to be missed. In the meantime, you can explore the Resort ’16 and Fall/Winter ’15 collections online at www.escada.com.
