Today’s post comes from one of Rome’s most impressive and important churches in Rome: the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran. This is the oldest and first of the five Papal Basilicas of the world (Wikipedia says it best), and it is truly awe-inspiring. We had ridden past it on the Vespa many times as well as took photos nearby (see this post), but never actually walked up to its doors until last weekend, and I was blown away by the beautiful architecture. Although we didn’t go inside this time because I did not bring anything to cover my shoulders, we definitely plan on taking a tour in the near future.Karl Lagerfield once said, “Black, like white, is the best color” and it doesn’t get any better than wearing them together.
I love to add a dash of red to black and white outfits, and my favorite lipstick and bag were the perfect crimson touches.
I mean, how stunning is this façade? It’s truly incredible to imagine human hands creating this intricate (and massive) structure, not to mention almost 1,700 years ago! Culottes are great for this time of year because they are loose and comfortable for warm days but can easily transition to fall–I love how they look with an oversized turtleneck.Little details like the triangle cutout on the back of this top instantly add visual interest to a simple outfit.Even though there are more than 900 churches in the city, Archbasilica of St. John Lateran is definitely a must-see if you ever find yourself in Rome.
