Fun fact: did you know al fresco comes from the Italian phrase meaning ‘in the cool air’? The actual Italian words typically used when referring to outdoor dining are fuori (out) or all’aperto (outdoors), but any way you call it, sitting outside is my favorite way to enjoy dinner in warm weather. One of my favorite looks for summer evenings is a maxi dress accessorized with wedge sandals and a lightweight scarf; not only did this colorful printed style add a little pizzazz to my solid-colored dress, but it served as the perfect extra layer when the temperature cooled down and the sea breeze picked up.
Speaking of dinner, I have to mention the fantastic restaurant where we ate in Pescara: Le Terrazze Roof Garden. We chose to eat here because it was the #1 restaurant listed on TripAdvisor and had excellent reviews, but we were still blown away when we tasted the food for ourselves. We started with homemade foccaccia bread and shared the rest of our dishes: calamari fritti, pasta with fresh tuna and shrimp, and the grand finale, which was a coconut cream concoction–all accompanied by an incredible ocean view and excellent service. I think it’s safe to say we will be going back the next time we visit Pescara!
