Today was an Italian holiday, Festa della Reppublica (Republic Day), which celebrates the day when Italians voted to abolish their former monarchy government in favor of a new republic for their country. Since my husband didn’t have to work (pretty much everyone in Italy had today off), we decided to head down to Centro to catch the huge military parade that went from the Colosseum to Piazza Venezia. Even though we showed up on time and got some good spots, apparently we stood in the wrong part because the parade marched by us a few hundred yards away and it was hard to see anything–oh well, maybe we’ll pick a better vantage point next year!
I’m a fan of long vests and this style from J. Crew does not disappoint; come to think of it, I seem to be a walking ad for J. Crew today–I just think their summer collection is amazing this year! Although this particular vest is part of a suit, I opted to wear it with a camisole and distressed high rise denim for an off-duty look. I also highly recommend these boyfriend shorts; I love them paired with nude stilettos to achieve the appearance of longer legs, although they are just as perfect with flat sandals and wedges–I have a feeling I’ll be wearing them nonstop this summer.
