Happy Monday! As I mentioned on Friday’s post, we didn’t have any set plans last weekend, so we spent Saturday morning at IKEA and Leroy Merlin (the Italian version of Lowes or Home Depot) doing some home and garden shopping. Although we did manage to find most of what we needed, we were a bit unprepared for the Leroy Martin shopping experience. Unlike America, there are no free gigantic carts or metal trolleys to load up all of your items; if you want a large cart then you have to deposit one Euro, which you get back once you return the cart into the rack (similar to the carts in most U.S. airports). We didn’t know this until we had already started loading up our medium-size green basket (which was free), so we just stuffed as much as we could into two baskets and went on our way. Getting all of our goods from the store into the parking garage was quite a hike as well! We’ll be making another trip soon since we couldn’t buy as much as we wanted to, but for now, I am enjoying my new ‘herb garden’, complete with mint, basil, parsley, rosemary, and chives. I used nearly all of them to make tonight’s dinner of ginger soy salmon, Caprese salad, and fresh bread with herb-infused olive oil–SO yummy!
I can’t get enough of the denim-on-denim trend lately, and these high waist vintage-style bootcut jeans from 7 For All Mankind are my new favorite pair for legs that appear to be a mile long–seriously, it’s height magic! I absolutely fell in love with the fit as soon as I put them on and with my highest wedge sandals, the ground-grazing length is perfect: long enough to cover my shoes but not so much that they drag under my feet (for height reference, I’m just about 5’4″). Head-to-toe denim is great year round, and I summerized my look with turquoise jewelry and a bright orange bag.
