TGIF, everyone! Do you all have any fun weekend plans ahead? The last few weeks have been pretty busy for us, so I’m looking forward to a few days with nothing special on the agenda besides a trip to IKEA for a few home items and some plant shopping. Now that we’ve gotten settled in our new place, I can’t wait to brighten up our balcony with flowers and start growing my own herbs again (especially mint, because it’s mojito season now!) Luckily most Italian apartments, ours included, come with metal hanging baskets already in place for plants on the balcony because terrace gardens are very popular.
I mentioned before on the blog that we were Vespa shopping and I’d like to introduce our fancy new ride! With the crazy traffic in Rome, having a Vespa makes getting around SO much easier and a whole lot faster, not to mention it’s really economical. We barely use our car now, and will mainly reserve it for going on trips out of the city. Last night we hopped on it to head to a fashion event in Centro and were able to zip down in less than 15 minutes–in a car, that time would be more than double. You may be wondering how I manage to wear a dress while riding this, and that’s a very good question–in fact, I’m still not sure if I’ve discovered the best method yet, but have seen plenty of Italian women who ride their Vespas in skirts and dresses seemingly with ease. So far, I’ve tried several things–since this dress is loose and stretchy, I simply placed my purse in front of my lap and was good to go. But last night I wore a slim shift dress, so I put on leggings underneath and took them off when we arrived at our destination. Even though I was wearing a dress, I found removing pants in public to be a bit awkward, though, so I’m not sure if I’ll be doing that again-ha! As far as driving the scooter myself, for now, I will remain the passenger until I can have some driving lessons! About this tee shirt dress from the Milly for Kohls collection: it’s striped and it’s comfy, making it a winner in my book, and ironically, the color is ‘Vespa red’, so I couldn’t resist wearing it for my first photo shoot with our scooter. The versatility is also endless: it looks great topped with a denim jacket or vest, and pairs well with flat sandals, wedges, sneakers…the list goes on. Have a wonderful weekend and as always, thank you so much for reading!
