The long weekend we had has me a little thrown off, but it’s good to be back and I can’t wait to share some amazing photos from our trip. We celebrated two years of marriage in Toscana (Tuscany), which was pretty amazing after spending our first anniversary apart while my husband was deployed last year. Other than choosing to stay in the Chianti region based off the fact that it happens to be our favorite type of red wine, then researching a bit to find our inn, we didn’t plan out anything else beforehand. With no agenda to follow, we just got ready each morning and drove around until we found a place or other town that looked interesting, which was actually a pretty relaxing way to spend our vacation. From wine tasting in the countryside to shopping on the city streets of Florence, it was a successful first visit for us in the Tuscany region, and likely not our last.

For romantic inspiration on our anniversary dinner date, I wore this lace dress (with a light scarf because it tended to get chilly in the evenings) to our ‘favorite’ restaurant–La Martellina–where we ate twice out of our three-night stay. The food may not look like anything special from these photos, but believe me when I say each bite tasted like heaven because there was just so much fresh flavor in all of the dishes. Most importantly, I have to talk about the ficattole (fried bread bites) with squaquerello cheese spread and chestnut marmalade for dipping–all tasty by themselves, but shockingly delicious together! I typically don’t eat much fried food, but I helped my husband polish off the entire plate both of the nights we ate there. YOLO, right? Tomorrow is our moving day (whoo hoo!) so if I am MIA for the next day or two, I’m probably just buried in boxes.
