TGIF! I’m especially ready for the weekend because we have spent the entire last two days packing up our home in preparation for our move next week. Nothing is as exhausting both physically and emotionally as moving to a new home, and transferring everything overseas is even more complicated. We had to sort our contents into four different areas before they were packed up: our prized possessions went to my parents’ home for safekeeping, then the first shipment which contains primary essentials like clothing and toiletries which will arrive in a few weeks on a plane, our second shipment of furniture and dishes that will take several months by ship, and finally, long-term storage for items we won’t need during our two year stay in Rome. Shew…I’m getting tired just typing about the process!
Today’s outfit was shot on a snowy day earlier this week and there’s a good chance we may be snowed in again tomorrow. Not going to lie, I’m SO ready for the milder weather that awaits us in Rome–mid 50s-low 60s is going to feel like summer compared to the below 15 degree temperatures we’ve been experiencing the past few days! When the temperature really dips, I always reach for this super warm coat I’ve had for years. Lined with sherpa material and complete with a faux fur-trimmed hood, this Eskimo-style toggle coat is the ultimate protection against brutal winter days. I added a pair of Hunter boots to keep my feet dry in the snow and cozy fleece mittens for warm hands.
