If you haven’t already heard, Pantone has named ‘marsala’ the color of the year for 2015, so I decided to break out my faux leather jacket in its honor. Described by Pantone as a “naturally robust and earthy wine red,” I like to think of marsala as a lighter shade of burgundy. My favorite colors to pair with this rich hue are gray, black, and camel, or try it with soft pink for an unexpectedly pretty combination.
To give visual interest to this look, I layered with a denim button-down and fair isle sweater in a print that harmonizes with my jacket. By using pieces in complimentary colors for this outfit, the eclectic variety of styles work well together: the moto jacket gives a downtown edge, a preppy vibe comes from the button-down and sweater, and a floppy hat adds a touch of boho-chic.
