Have you ever thought about how clothes have the power to evoke certain feelings, much like one whiff of a certain scent can immediately bring a specific memory to mind? Just like a threadbare T-shirt reminds you of an awesome concert with friends or a fancy dress has you recall a special occasion, a casual outfit like this one makes me think of where I always feel most comfortable: in the natural beauty of my hometown. As much as I love to dress up and put on a fancy pair of stilettos, the style I know best is just as laid-back as the rural area I grew up in. In the fall or winter, you’ll find me wearing a cozy sweater, oversized scarf, worn-in jeans, and western-style leather boots until summer rolls around, when the uniform becomes denim shorts and a tee shirt.
Since I’ve started blogging, the documentary of outfits I’ve worn over the years has become a fashion diary that’s almost like a scrapbook. I love looking back and seeing what I wore on a weekend getaway or a date with my husband and remembering fun times together. The memories are not always perfect, though–sometimes I may look at an outfit and remember the moment I almost drove him crazy trying to find the perfect location for photos or a time I nearly froze while hurrying to get a couple good shots in frigid weather! Nonetheless, blogging has grown to be more personal to me than merely posting photos of outfits. My style will evolve and I’ll definitely branch out, but no matter where in the world I go, I’ll always come back to the familiar and comforting clothing I call home.
