There’s something about pairing winter white and black that has a holiday feel (and of course, a red cup from Starbucks doesn’t hurt!) I recently purchased my first cashmere sweater and it definitely won’t be my last. While it’s true that cashmere sweaters are pricier than most, there are a few reasons for the higher price tag. It comes down to production: cashmere comes from the undercoat of a certain goat breed and it can take wool from several goats just to make one sweater! The word cashmere is derived from the Indian region of Kashmir, where the goats live. I had to do my research for this post!
In the fashion world, there are several reasons why cashmere is coveted. The material is warmer, feels super soft against skin, and doesn’t pill immediately like many other sweater fabrics. Even sweaters made of a cashmere blend tend to be higher quality than most. Keep an eye out for sales, too: I scored this one during a recent 50% off storewide sale at Ann Taylor. With the holidays fast approaching, there are sure to be plenty of great deals out there!
