{ Friday Five: Brahmin snakeskin satchel, H&M wool hat, Essie color cube, Clinique chubby sticks & Brachs candy pumpkins

August 22, 2014

2014-08-22_0001Happy Friday, everyone! As I put this together, I realized I’m in full fall preparation mode. I guess I’m not too early, though–after all, Starbucks is debuting their infamous pumpkin spice latte on Monday. Enjoy your weekend and thank you for visiting!

  • Brahmin “Duxbury” satchel in tortoise seville
  • H&M wool felt panama hat
  • Essie Fall 2014 color cube
  • Clinique Chubby sticks
  • Brachs mellowcreme pumpkins

Brahmin Duxbury satchel in tortoise seville snakeskin printIntroducing the latest addition to my handbag family: Brahmin’s Duxbury satchel in tortoise seville snakeskin print (worn here). As a lover of animal print, I was immediately drawn to the snakeskin-embossed leather. The mix of neutral autumnal hues also gives it endless wear-ability options, so I was sold.  I’ve never been a huge fan of satchel styles because they tend to “puddle” unless they’re filled to the top. Not the case with this bag–the large size holds all of my handbag essentials comfortably and the sturdy leather holds its shape regardless of how full it is. As with all of my Brahmin bags, this one has several dividing pockets inside for easy organization, plus an outside pocket for my phone (a must!) It also has two pen holders, which is unusual for most bags, but nice for people like me who like to carry a few.

H&M wool felt hat, camel wool fedora with leather trim bandI’m really happy that hats are back in a big way for fall. They can mask a bad hair day or protect your hair from rain or snow, all with an effortlessly chic appearance.  I found this wool felt panama-style is from H&M, but there are a few other great styles here and here.

Essie Fall 2014 dressed to kilt color cube, style cartel, partner in crime, take it outside

Essie Style Cartel deep blue nail polish

If you couldn’t already tell, I’m a nail polish addict. I always love trying out seasonal collections, and I discovered a better (and cheaper) way to get my fix. Some nail polish companies, like Essie, sell sets of mini-size bottles. These particular shades are part of Essie’s fall 2014 collection. The shades, left to right, are: Take it Outside, Dressed to Kilt, Style Cartel, and Partner in Crime. So far, I’ve only worn “Style Cartel,” (pictured above) which is a gorgeous deep inky blue creme. Many beauty retailers are selling this color cube, but I found the best prices on Amazon. For $13, shipping included, I got these 4 minis, while a regular-size bottle is $8.50.

Clinique chubby sticks baby tiny in coming up rosy, chubby stick intense in grandest grapeAs if I didn’t have enough Clinique chubby sticks, I couldn’t resist a few new shades. On the left is “Grandest Grape,” one of the Chubby Stick Intense shades which delivers more color pigment than the regular formula. It’s a beautiful berry hue that’s not too dark and not too bright purple. I plan on wearing this one all through fall and winter. The color on the right is “Coming Up Rosy” from the new chubby stick  Baby Tint collection. These chubbies are the most sheer, and are said to deliver a shade similar to your lips, but different on everyone. This is perfect for those times when I just want a little bit of color rather than full-on lipstick, like a workout at the gym.

brachs mellowcreme pumpkinsThey’re baaaack! My absolute favorite fall candy is candy corn and mellowcreme pumpkins, so I was just a little excited to see these when I was grocery shopping the other day. I feel like this is one of those candies like black jellybeans; you either love or hate it. I like tossing a handful in my buttered popcorn (seriously, it gets a little soft and tastes SO. GOOD.) or in a snack mix of pretzels and almonds. It has to be Brachs, too–other brands just don’t compare.
