When I put on a pair of form-fitting jeans after running around in shorts and dresses all summer, it can feel a little restricting. But the relaxed, loose fit from a pair of boyfriends feels incredibly comfortable–and also a little cooler in the summer heat. Unless otherwise noted in the description, most brands recommend to go down one size for a closer fit in the waist and hips. This particular pair is from LOFT, and I definitely always need to go down one size in their boyfriend denim.

Due to the laid-back nature and generous fit of boyfriend jeans, the look can get sloppy or frumpy pretty fast without a few adjustments. To keep the style feminine and streamlined, I typically wear mine with heels and a fitted top. A crisp button down with a jeweled collar and patent pumps add some refinement to this particular ensemble.
